Executive Director: Amy Miller

Amy has worked with LLA since 2011, first as a volunteer, then as a board member, and now as the organization's first Executive Director. Amy is a native Louisvillian and a graduate of the University of Louisville MA in English program and the Spalding University MFA in Writing program (creative nonfiction). She has worked as a freelance writer, writing instructor, grant writer, and bookseller. Her essays have appeared in SalonHippocampus Magazine,  [PANK], The Louisville Review, and Under The Gum Tree, among others. She is the recipient of the Harpur Palate 2017 Nonfiction Award and received Honorable Mention in the Flyway Journal Notes From the Field Nonfiction competition. When Amy isn’t working for LLA, she is writing and revising picture book manuscripts, reading, drawing, and gardening. She lives in Louisville with her husband and two kids. 

Social Media & Marketing Director: Sarah McCartt-Jackson

Kentucky poet and educator Sarah McCartt-Jackson has been published by Indiana Review, Journal of American Folklore, The Maine Review, and others. Her poetry book Stonelight won the 2017 Airlie Prize, 2018 Weatherford Award, and 2020 Phillip H. McMath Award. Her poetry chapbooks include: Calf Canyon, Vein of Stone, and Children Born on the Wrong Side of the River. She has served as artist-in-residence for three National Parks and has received honors from the Academy of American Poets, Kentucky Arts Council, Kentucky Foundation for Women, and Barbara Deming Foundation. She teaches poetry and kindergarten.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports Louisville Literary Arts with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
