Executive Director: Charliese Brown Lewis

Charliese is an educator, author, editor, publicist, and podcaster who provides platforms for others to use their voices to be genuine, empowered, and courageous. During her career, she has worked diligently to encourage and coach individuals and organizations to develop their vision fully through intentional planning, aligned processes, and strategic partnerships. Lewis earned her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education/English from Kentucky State University, an M.A. in Journalism with an emphasis in investigative reporting from The Ohio State University, and an M.S. in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky.

I am grateful to the Louisville Literary Arts for entrusting me with the next leg of the journey in providing opportunities for readers and writers to connect with one another, strengthen their craft, and promote their work globally.

Social Media & Marketing Director: Sarah McCartt-Jackson

Kentucky poet and educator Sarah McCartt-Jackson has been published by Indiana Review, Journal of American Folklore, The Maine Review, and others. Her poetry book Stonelight won the 2017 Airlie Prize, 2018 Weatherford Award, and 2020 Phillip H. McMath Award. Her poetry chapbooks include: Calf Canyon, Vein of Stone, and Children Born on the Wrong Side of the River. She has served as artist-in-residence for three National Parks and has received honors from the Academy of American Poets, Kentucky Arts Council, Kentucky Foundation for Women, and Barbara Deming Foundation. She teaches poetry and kindergarten.
