Tina Parker is the author of two previous poetry collections, Mother May I and Another Offering. She will be reading from her third collection, Lock Her Up, available from Accents Publishing. This book springs from historical research into the lives of women labeled as “other”—whether that be witch, insane, or hysterical. The poems stem from 19th and 20th century patient records of Southwestern State Mental Hospital in Marion, Virginia. Tina’s work has received support from the Kentucky Foundation for Women. Individual poems have been published in Appalachian Heritage, Still: The Journal, Pen+Brush, Rattle, and Literary Mama. Tina grew up in Bristol, Virginia, and now lives in Berea, Kentucky.
