Meet the Board of Directors

 

 

C. Dean Furman, Jr.
C. Dean Furman, Jr. (Board President) is an attorney in Louisville with Furman & Nilsen, PLLC. Dean is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. He has served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law. Dean is also a Board member for the Louisville Bar Association. When he’s not litigating, volunteering, or spending time with his wife and children, he writes fiction.
Tim Johnson
Tim is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Louisville and holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently working on a book about the history and significance of Ford Motor Company's motion pictures.
Erv Klein
Erv Klein is a life-long resident of Louisville. He’s been writing for eight years and is a firm believer in writers supporting writers. Subterfuge, his first book, was published in March, 2019. It is an historical fiction mystery about a missing German U-boat in World War II and the captain’s son’s search to discover its fate. His second, an as-yet unnamed family saga about a man in search of a family, is set in a fictional small town in Kentucky.
Mark Rabinowitz
Mark Rabinowitz has been a journalist, publicist, film festival staffer and producer for over 20 years. He is a co-founder of IndieWire.com and has written extensively on film and TV for CNN.com, Paste Magazine, Screen International, Variety and many others. He helped organize the Hamptons International Film Festival and was the head documentary programmer at the Oxford Film Festival. He serves on the Board of Governors at the Speed Museum and on the Louisville Film Commission.
Robert Eric Shoemaker
Robert Eric Shoemaker is a poet-playwright, translator, educator, and theatre artist. Eric holds an MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University and is a student in the PhD Humanities program at the University of Louisville. He is the author of We Knew No Mortality (2018), 30 Days Dry (2015), and a collection of hybrid writing on Venice and climate change, Ca’Venezia (2019). He is the Artistic Director of Poetry Is Productions.
Jenn Wagley
Jenn Wagley is the owner of a small marketing and corporate communications agency, spending most of her time creating strategic copy for her clients. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, with an MA in Journalism, and attends the school’s writing workshop each summer. Most importantly, Jenn enjoys as many LLA workshops as she can squeeze into her schedule.
Jenn Yates
Jenn Yates (Board Secretary) is a Louisville, Kentucky native and graduate of Bellarmine University where she studied music and arts administration. She has been a technical writer since 2007, and is working on a memoir of her world travels.
Yvonne Lovell
Yvonne Lovell retired after a career in postsecondary education in New York and Kentucky, which spanned four decades. Since retiring in 2014, she has pursued her lifelong interest in writing. She engages with the literary community in Louisville through workshops, literary readings, and more. Yvonne’s literary publications include essays in the anthology, The Boom Project: Voices of a Generation and an anthology by Kaleidoscope WoJo LLC. coming in August 2020.
