LLA response to the COVID-19 virus

August 18, 2020 Update

The LLA board and staff have decided to continue distance learning and programming during the Fall of 2020. We anticipate that we will extend virtual educational and community engagement programs into the winter and spring of 2021, but remain flexible depending on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Kentucky Department for Public Health. At this time, we will plan to provide free access to the InKY Reading Series and continue to offer affordable learning opportunities through webinars and virtual workshops. Please follow LLA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on upcoming programs and sign up for our monthly newsletter.

Thank you for your continued support for Louisville Literary Arts.

March-April 2020

We know that recent news about the coronavirus (COVID-19) is worrying and want to assure you that Louisville Literary Arts is committed to the health and well-being of our community. We are closely monitoring the evolving status of the coronavirus and are following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Kentucky Department for Public Health, and the Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness to ensure the safety of our participants, audiences, authors, volunteers, and instructors.

Louisville Literary Arts has cancelled ALL spring in-person programs. We are working with authors to reschedule or hold virtual InKY readings. In lieu of workshops, we have begun offering many 1-hour webinars through Zoom. Look for updates and information on the Online Learning page, and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In addition, we will be hosting monthly writer's meet-ups through Zoom beginning April 15 at 7:00PM until we are able to gather together again in person. Please see the Meet-Up page for a link to join us!

If you registered for a March workshop, you may transfer your registration for the rescheduled date (TBA), apply it to a different webinar, or we can reimburse you. Please contact us if you have already registered for one of the two workshops and let us know your preference.

Please follow these best practices to keep yourself and others healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting the restroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, or touching your face.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.

  • Keep disinfectant with you as a precaution.

  • Stay home as much as possible, especially if you feel sick.

  • If you must go out, wear gloves and a mask, if available.
